Fermented honey garlic has a sweet and tangy flavor that is popular in food dishes and in natural medicine cabinets. It has antimicrobial, and anti-viral properties, boosts your immune system, and can aid in digestion. It is very popular during cold and flu season. Ferments are also rich in beneficial bacteria, which encourages healthy gut flora.
Ingredients:3 bulbs of garlic or 1/2 of a jar full, peeled and crushed
1-2 cups of honey or enough so the jar is 3/4 full
Optional extras:
Turmeric root, chopped finely
Orange peel washed thoroughly and sliced thin
Directions:
Prep your ingredients (except honey).
Add them all to a glass jar.
Cover with honey making sure all is covered
completely and close the lid.
Only fill your jar about 3/4 full (including honey).
Burp the jar daily and give it a shake to prevent
carbonation buildup.
Make sure the garlic is always covered with honey.
Repeat this daily for 2-3 weeks.
After fully fermented, you can store it in the refrigerator.
